Welcome to the Alberta Arbitration & Mediation Society

On behalf of the Board, staff and volunteers who have worked to make Alberta Arbitration & Mediation Society (AAMS) a reality, I would like to welcome you to our website.

AAMS was incorporated as a non-profit organization in April, 1982 under the Societies Act of Alberta.  Today we are a federally registered charity with a mandate to inform you of the many alternatives available to you in the event of a serious professional, business, family or personal dispute.  We may even be able to assist you if you don't have everything you need to address your dispute.

What AAMS Does in more general terms:

We promote, inform, publicize, communicate and improve the knowledge of  arbitration and mediation.

We inform the public about the application and techniques of arbitration and mediation procedures in the settlement of disputes,

We inform and educate in the business, professional, government and municipal communities, as well as the general public in the process and scope of arbitration and mediation.

We gather, research and disseminate the latest information and most recent developments in ADR, as well as their potential impact.

We institute, support and carry out any research, program or activity with a view to promoting and improving an understanding of arbitration and mediation.

We provide assistance to persons wishing to use arbitration or mediation.

We provide assistance to, and work collaboratively with, other organizations who work with us in furthering our mandate as a charity.
